EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Although I am a qualified psychotherapist, there are no qualifications for the person I am. That blend of being me and what I’ve learned is hard to describe. I think you just have to get to know me and I’ll get to know you.
Qualifications don’t always denote a ‘good’ therapist or competent professional, but they may give you some reassurance to the depth and integrity of the work we will do together.
QUALIFICATIONS & MEMBERSHIPS
I hold a Master of Science degree (with Distinction) in Integrative Psychotherapy from the University of Derby. This course was accredited by the BACP one of the UK governing bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. I have a diploma in therapeutic counselling, a certificate in counselling studies and a certificate in counselling skills.
Together with 7+ years of formal study I undertake ongoing formal training and continued professional development to a high level each year.
In addition to my core training I am trained in EMDR therapy through the EMDR UK and Ireland Association. I am a registered, accredited member of the BACP, a registered member of the EMDR Association, a member of the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and have full indemnity insurance renewed annually. I guess what all that means is I am committed to working with you to a high standard.
WORK HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL
I haven’t been a psychotherapist for all of my work life. I have 25+ years of experience latterly in senior roles providing leadership, coaching and mentoring to individuals and groups across corporate and charity sectors.
Part of what makes my approach unique is how I integrate my past skills, lived experience, knowledge and thinking into the work that we will do together.
My approach is both things: gentle and dynamic, grounding and energising, guiding and containing, with a sense of direction. .
